1. Set Up Classic Fourth of July Lights

It sounds like an obvious choice, but a red, white, and blue combination is the perfect Fourth of July lighting. It’s easy to add to your decor, and you can easily set it up from the Gemstone Lights app.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Tap the folder in which you’d like to keep the pattern.
  2. Tap ‘Create a Pattern’ to enter the pattern builder screen.
  3. Select an animation. There are several to choose from. If you want something flashy, ‘Sway’ creates a soft, flicking effect that looks pretty, or you can go for ‘Fireworks’ for a more dramatic light show. If you prefer, you can keep the lights still by choosing ‘Motionless.’
  4. Choose a direction. You can pick which direction you want the lights to move in for specific animations. You can always test it out and change your mind afterward—all it takes is pushing a button.
  5. Choose your pattern colors of classic red, white, and blue.
  6. You can adjust the brightness using the slider, depending on your preferences. Going bright is a good idea for the ultimate impact on a sunny day.
  7. Tap the ‘Play’ button to preview the lights.
  8. Use the speed slider to adjust the speed if you’d like.
  9. Click ‘save,’ and your pattern will appear in your chosen folder.

Once your pattern is set up, you can go back and find it every year or even set it on a timer to switch on automatically on the next Fourth of July. Since it saves to the cloud, you can access your pattern from any device.

2. Extend Your Late Night Celebrations With Smart Lights

Of course, the sun doesn’t set until later in the summer, but track lights still look beautiful as the light slowly shifts and changes. Having lights on creates a party atmosphere and makes your outside areas look even better.

You can also extend the celebrations way into the night by using a combination of flood lights and track lights. Track lights create down lighting (where the light shines downward), while flood lights create up lighting (where the light shines upward). Combining the two creates a warm ambiance and allows you to enjoy the late-night celebrations outdoors, even after the fireworks have faded.

3. End the Celebrations Safely With Outdoor Lighting

At the party’s end, you can ensure your entryways are well-lit so that everybody leaves safely, even if the celebrations have gone on late into the night.

Even if you haven’t had a party at home, you can still use your smart lights to ensure everyone gets home safely. You can isolate lights on the app, which means you can light up only the entryways and paths for your returning family without lighting up the whole house.

Using the new Gemstone Lights app, you can control up to 4,096 lights. So, even with a large property, you can control everything from your smartphone.

Fourth of July Lights FAQs

Question: Can anyone in my household control the lights?

Answer: Yes, anyone can control the lights—they just need to download the Gemstone Lights app on their smart device and log in using the household details.

Question: Is the installation process disruptive?

Answer: No, it’s not disruptive! It does take some time to install track lights—they’re permanent, of course, so we want them to look perfect. But once they’re installed (in about a day for most homes), they’re designed to blend into the exterior of your property, so you won’t even think about it.

The cabling of our flood lights is buried under the ground, with minimal disruption to your landscaping. This means nobody will trip over it, and it won’t interfere with your yard maintenance.

Question: Can I switch my track lights on while I’m away from home?

Answer: Yes! Even if you’re away from home, your home can look lovely for the Fourth of July. Just switch your pattern on, and it’ll spring into life while you’re gone. You can also set it to switch off at a specific time, so you won’t have to think about it.

The same goes for commercial track lights, too. If you run a business but you’re taking the weekend off, you can still make the building look great by switching on your lights from afar.
